Oakland

Oakland

Date Established: July 1965

Oakland Church was established due to the strong desire of members who resided in Oakland but had to travel to San Francisco Church for church services and other church activities. The teachings of PL inspired so many people in the Oakland community. Many of the members became Hokyoshis and made efforts to further spread the teachings, which lead to rapid growth of the Oakland Church membership. Before moving into a church building, one of the members opened up his house to be used as a place of worship for the members. The first church building was purchased in 1965 on 25th Ave. In 1969, the church was moved to another location on 41st Ave. Then, in November of 1978, the current church building was built and continues to assist members today.

Church Activities: “PL Thanksgiving Service” held on the 21st of every month, Sunday Services, other church services and ceremonies (please see link for detailed schedule and information), Mother’s Day and Father’s Day events, PL Establishment Day Picnics, Chicken BBQ, among other activities.
